【プレスリリース】細胞膜酵素を用いた水素駆動型CO₂還元反応によるギ酸生成系の開発

・As a method for reducing carbon dioxide (CO₂), we have developed a hydrogenation reaction system for CO₂ using cell membrane enzymes.

・We succeeded for the first time in the world in constructing a highly efficient formic acid production system from hydrogen-driven CO₂ reduction reaction by cell membrane enzymes.

・CO₂ reduction reactions at room temperature and pressure using enzyme catalysts can also contribute to carbon neutrality.

This research was conducted by the research group of Associate Professor Ki-Shi Yun of the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I²CNER) at Kyushu University and Academic Researcher Moniruzzaman Mohammad of the Mitsui Chemicals Carbon-Neutral Energy Research Center (MCI-CNRC), among others.

This research is the creation of a highly efficient CO₂ conversion system in which cell membranes are immobilized with carbon carriers and polymeric polymers, and is expected to be useful in the development of energy conversion systems using such purified enzyme systems in the future.

These results were published online in Elsevier’s international journal Bioresource Technology on Friday, October 23, 2023 (Japan time).
