Every four years since 1950 the leading mechanics researchers in the United States have convened the U.S. National Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.

At this congress, Prof. Kamlah (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany), Prof. Robert M. McMeeking (I²CNER External Advisory Committee member, University of California at Santa Barbara, USA), Prof. Petros Sofronis (I²CNER Director), Dr. Huaiyu Shao (Assistant Professor from Hydrogen Storage Division, I²CNER) organized one minisymposium dealing with all mechanical aspects in the context of energy storage, experiments or modeling at all length scales including kinetics, heat transfer, electronic and ionic transport, thermodynamics, stress generation, degradation.
