I²CNER has taken various progressive approaches in order to realize the missions of MEXT WPI Program: “Advancing high-caliber research”, “Creating interdisciplinary domains” “Establishing international research environments”, and “Reforming research organizations”.
In order to promote the development and state-of-the-art research of the research system in cooperation with the University of Illinois, etc. in research fields such as energy-related future, NEXT-RP was established on April 1, 2016.
In this center, researchers from I2CNER’s Thermal Science and Engineering Division play a central role in organizing national/international research institutes and conducting infrastructure research for accurate evaluation of thermophysical properties, and fundamental performance of heat exchange and ACR cycle for zero-ozone depletion potential (ODP) and low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants to contribute future energy-saving technology for vehicles and houses in order for the global continuous development by achieving the low carbon society.
