On Monday, June 22, 2026, a delegation from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), including Chancellor Charles L. Isbell Jr., visited I2CNER.
The delegation was welcomed by Director Tatsumi Ishihara, Associate Director Shigenori Fujikawa and Associate Director Hiroshige Matsumoto, and other members. Following an overview presentation of I2CNER by Director Ishihara, an active question-and-answer session and exchange of views took place.
The delegation then visited Associate Director Fujikawa’s laboratory, where they observed nanomembranes for capturing CO₂ directly from the atmosphere and learned about their underlying mechanism.
