On Monday, June 22, 2026, Charles L. Isbell, Jr., Chancellor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), visited I2CNER and met with Director Tatsumi Ishihara, Associate Director Shigenori Fujikawa and Associate Director Hiroshige Matsumoto, among others.
Following an overview of I2CNER presented by Director Ishihara, a Q&A and discussion session took place. The participants then visited Associate Director Fujikawa’s laboratory, where they observed nanomembranes for capturing CO₂ directly from the atmosphere and learned about their underlying mechanism.
