The International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I2CNER), Kyushu University, has received a donation of research equipment, an integrated glovebox system with a vacuum evaporation unit (acquisition cost: JPY 21.7 million), from KOREA KIYON Co., Ltd. (Republic of Korea). This equipment is expected to significantly contribute to the development of perovskite solar cells and to strengthen the research infrastructure of the institute.
To express its appreciation, I2CNER held a donation ceremony on April 3rd, 2026, at the I2CNER Building No. 1.
On the day of the ceremony, distinguished guests, including Mr. Jeffrey Lee, CEO of KOREA KIYON Co., Ltd., representatives from the company, Mr. Shimpachiro Tsuji, Executive Director of YAMAHACHI & Co., Ltd. (the official distributor in Japan), and Prof. Chih-Ping Chen from Ming Chi University of Technology (Taiwan), were in attendance. From I2CNER, Associate Director Prof. Hiroshige Matsumoto and Asst. Prof. (Tenure Track) Zhanglin Guo, who is responsible for the introduction and management of the equipment, along with other faculty members and researchers, also participated in the ceremony.
The ceremony opened with remarks by Asst. Prof. Guo, followed by opening remarks from Associate Director Prof. Matsumoto. This was followed by an address from Mr. Lee, CEO of KOREA KIYON Co., Ltd., and the presentation of a certificate of appreciation in recognition of the donation. A commemorative photo session and a tour of the newly installed equipment were also conducted, providing an opportunity to strengthen future research collaboration further.
This initiative represents an important step toward strengthening research infrastructure through academia-industry collaboration and promoting international joint research. I2CNER will continue to advance research toward realizing a carbon-neutral society.
